Royal Caribbean marked World Ocean Month by uniting sport, science, and community action with Inter Miami CF and
, to advance ocean conservation and inspire the next generation of ocean stewards.
To mark World Ocean Day, Royal Caribbean and Inter Miami CF made a joint $30,000 contribution supporting REEFLINE’s coral outplanting efforts. REEFLINE is a Miami-based nonprofit organization that advances ocean literacy, supports marine biodiversity, and inspires environmental stewardship.
A Living Reef Beneath Miami’s Waters
Located just off Miami Beach, REEFLINE is redefining how people experience the ocean in its installation of Phase 1,
Concrete Coral installation by artist Leandro Erlich. The installation features 22 life-sized submerged car sculptures, highlighting the environmental footprint of human activity while creating new habitat for marine life. These hybrid reef structures support coral growth and marine biodiversity, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and help combat the effects of rising ocean temperatures.
Expanding Ocean Literacy Through Community Impact
Beyond coral restoration, a portion of the funding will support REEFLINE’s educational initiatives and community engagement efforts to close the ocean literacy gap by connecting more people to the ocean through accessible, hands-on experiences.
“At REEFLINE, we’re rewilding the ocean floor—and rewilding imagination. Through the power of art, science, and engineering, we are helping nature bounce back while inspiring new ways to connect with and care for our oceans”, said Ximena Caminos, REEFLINE Founder and CEO. “This World Oceans Day, we celebrate the power of partnership. By bringing together creative, scientific, and sporting communities, we can inspire millions to take action. The ocean connects us all, and its future belongs to all of us. We are Team Ocean.”
A Shared Vision for the Ocean’s Future
Guided by its SEA the Future platform focused on sustaining the planet, energizing communities, and accelerating innovation, Royal Caribbean is turning commitment into action where it matters most: in the communities and oceans it touches every day.
Ahead of the FIFA international window, Inter Miami CF First Team players, Yannick Bright, Ian Fray, Gonzalo Lujan, Facundo Mura, and Mateo Silvetti joined representatives of Royal Caribbean and REEFLINE for a day of education and exploration where they visited REEFLINE’s Concrete Coral installation.
