Set Sail for Unique Jobs at Royal Caribbean Group

Naval architects? Waterslide engineers? Chief Dog Officers? There’s a job for everyone at Royal Caribbean Group! It’s more than cruising the seas – it’s about making waves in the job market with some unique roles. Bridge officers, travel partners, chefs and maître d' are great options for those looking to work with the Group, but there’s so much more behind the scenes that makes the company a fun and thrilling place to work.

Horticulturist

Ever wondered who’s responsible for selecting and caring for the 30,000+ trees and flowers in Central Park onboard Oasis and Icon Class and Edge Series ships? What about the stunning floral arrangements found around Silversea ships? How about maintaining the outdoor relief area for Service Dogs sailing with their handlers (or Chief Dog Officers)? Enter the horticulturist. These team members are responsible for the care and appearance of all living and artificial plants, trees and flowers throughout the ship. The horticulturist needs to know which plants will thrive in tropical conditions and which plants can handle chilly climates. They also need to know vegetation restrictions around the world to ensure the ships are complying with local regulations in the hundreds of destinations the Group visits.

Naval Architect

Naval architects, alongside marine engineers, support the design, building, operation and maintenance of Royal Caribbean Group’s expansive fleet of ships. They’re responsible for designing and maintaining the ship’s internal systems, like the propulsion, electrical, cooling and steering systems. For some naval architects, they can work on large-scale projects, like being the project manager for a site office, like the one the Group has in Chantiers de l'Atlantique, where Celebrity Xcel is currently being built

Art Curators

Imagine being an art curator and getting to travel the world, working with local artists through the Artist Discovery Program and picking out beautiful pieces to showcase on the Group’s ships. Each cruise is like a floating art gallery, so the curators meticulously craft the vibe for every deck, stateroom and venue onboard. For guests looking to take the ultimate souvenir home with them, the teams in the onboard galleries can help guests find the art they’re looking for.

Waterslide Engineer

For adrenaline junkies, there’s a job built just for them. The Group has a team of waterslide engineers who design, create and test out the most jaw-dropping, heart-pounding waterslides at sea and at private destinations, like Perfect Day at CocoCay. The engineers’ work goes beyond the creation of these incredible water slides; they must consider the vibrations from the ships, the effect of wind gusts and load factors, all while making unique waterslides that are the first of their kind. Talk about making a splash!

Chief Dog Officer & Chief of Staff

But let’s not forget the Chief Dog Officer & Chief of Staff – the ultimate dream job for dog lovers. There’s no better co-worker than a four-legged furry friend. While Rover is the Chief Dog Officer for Icon of the Seas, her sister, Sailor, will soon take her place as the Chief Dog Officer for Star of the Seas. Of course, every officer needs their Chief of Staff whose job it is to play, train and spend all day with their officer, ensuring they bring smiles to guests and crew.
