Investing Where Communities Grow with the Royal Caribbean Group Foundation

For decades, Royal Caribbean Group has partnered with communities around the world - supporting education, strengthening local economies, and helping care for the places guests love to visit. With the launch of the Royal Caribbean Group Foundation, this long-standing commitment enters its next chapter. The Foundation brings together years of philanthropic partnerships and community investments under a formal structure designed to scale impact globally. At its core is a simple belief: tourism can be a force for long-term positive change when the communities are cared for and valued.

The Foundation’s first commitment reflects that belief. In South Florida, a community Royal Caribbean Group has called home for nearly 60 years, the Group is supporting a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Jackson Health System. This forward-looking investment in education will help train students to become future physicians serving the region’s diverse communities. By expanding local emergency care, the program contributes to the essential systems that help communities grow stronger and more resilient over time.

The Royal Caribbean Group Foundation also strengthens the Group’s ability to collaborate with nonprofit organizations, educators, and community leaders around the world. Its mission is guided by the SEA the Future initiative: the pillars that sustain the planet, energize communities, and accelerate innovation.

When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica, Royal Caribbean Group quickly came together to organize company-wide relief efforts and offer boots-on-the-ground assistance. Within days, the Group redirected Rhapsody of the Seas to bring emergency relief to Jamaica, delivering food and generators, as well as hygiene and household essentials straight from the ship. Independence of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas followed swiftly in their wake with recurring deliveries, depositing additional pallets of relief supplies and building materials from the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM).

To help fund their incredible humanitarian operations across the island, the Group donated more than $400,000 to GEM’s Caribbean branch, contributing to the $20 million worth of aid they committed to Jamaica. With GEM’s support, the Group distributed an additional 2,500+ disaster relief packages to local crew and shore excursion partners across nine port companies. Building on these relief packages, Royal Caribbean Group also partnered with a local restaurant at the Port of Falmouth to produce 500 hot meals a day for two weeks, providing more than 7,000 meals to hurricane-impacted communities while supporting local economic recovery.

In Haiti, the Royal Caribbean Group Foundation continues a long‑standing commitment to education through L’Ecole Nouvelle Royal Caribbean, a purpose‑built school serving children and families in the Labadee region. Opened in 2010 as one of the first schools constructed following the country’s devastating earthquake, the school was intentionally designed to be disaster‑resilient, energy‑efficient, and accessible to the local community. Today, we provide quality education from kindergarten through ninth grade, serving hundreds of students each year while helping remove barriers to learning through meals, transportation, health support, and continued scholarship opportunities. Evening vocational classes extend access to education for adults, also reinforcing the Foundation’s belief that education is a cornerstone of long‑term opportunity and a critical investment in building resilient communities for future generations.

These initiatives build on broader global education efforts. Since 1998, Royal Caribbean Group has awarded $15 million in scholarships to more than 6,600 students. Today we work with more than 235 community partners across 85 destinations. From reimagining educational spaces to supporting disaster response and environmental stewardship, the Group’s community work reflects a sustained commitment to investing in people and places over time.

Through the Royal Caribbean Group Foundation, the Group is strengthening its commitment to investing where people live, learn, and lead - helping ensure that travel continues to create shared value and economic vitality for generations to come.
