In 2023, Royal Caribbean Group launched the Propelled by People initiative, a journey to learn more about who our people are and why RCG is their employer of choice. Designed to drive the retention and recruitment of all RCG people, we’re focusing on delivering the best employee experience based on what our employees tell us matters most to them. This year, we’re taking Propelled by People and expanding it, sharing new employee stories, creating new memories and bringing our employees together. 

Propelled by People: Our Stories is a portrait series created in partnership with iconic photographer, Steve McCurry. His body of work spans conflicts, vanishing cultures, ancient traditions and contemporary cultures alike, yet always retains that human element. One of his most celebrated photographs, The Afghan Girl, solidified him as one of the most remarkable photographers of our time. 

Thanks to his ongoing partnership with Silversea, McCurry is capturing our people through his lens to deliver a fresh perspective of employees from across the company who have turned the opportunity of a lifetime into a lifetime of opportunities. “I’ve been doing magazine work for almost 40 years, traveling the world for major magazines, doing fashion, editorial works,” shares McCurry, “but for me, travel’s really at the heart of my love and my passion.” These portraits, photographed by McCurry himself, will shed new light on employees’ experiences, from shoreside, to fleetwide to our destinations.
