Sometimes, a revolutionary product comes along that makes a widespread impact and forever changes the status quo. Icon of the Seas did just that when she sailed for the first time on January 27, 2024. Since then, Icon has led the vacation industry in developing new experiences for guests to chill and thrill.
With that, Royal Caribbean Group has some big news to share – the Company announced their next order for an Icon Class ship for delivery in 2027. Their agreement with Meyer Turku shipyard also includes options to build a fifth and sixth Icon Class ship!
Building on the incredible momentum and market response to the launch of Icon of the Seas and the excitement for her sister ship, Star of the Seas (launching in 2025), Royal Caribbean Group is thrilled to join with Meyer Turku once again to expand its roster of Icon Class ships and continue their future growth plans.
Meyer Turku has a long history of delivering best-in-class ships, and a 28-year relationship with Royal Caribbean Group. With this order, Meyer Turku will have built 21 ships for the Company.
Since her debut, Icon has revolutionized vacation experiences and exceeded the Group’s expectations in both guest satisfaction and financial performance. Icon was recently recognized by TIME as one of the world’s greatest places, and it’s now time to add more ships to an already top-of-the-line class.
From introducing an all-encompassing lineup of experiences that combined the best of every vacation – from the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure – the next ship in the lineup, Star of the Seas, and the yet-to-be-named third Icon Class ship (launching in 2026), will continue to deliver revolutionary experiences as they join our incredible family.
Royal Caribbean Group is leading the vacation industry in developing new experiences for guests to help them turn a vacation of a lifetime into a lifetime of vacations.
