Celebrity River Cruises has reached a defining milestone in its European expansion, unveiling plans to add 10 new river ships to its fleet by 2031. The strategic investment will grow the brand’s total European river fleet to 20 vessels, positioning Celebrity River Cruises among the region’s largest and fastest-growing premium operators.
The announcement coincides with the official start of construction on the brand’s first river ship, Celebrity Compass, marked by her ceremonial first steel cut. As the inaugural vessel in the fleet, Celebrity Compass signals a pivotal moment for the brand as it prepares to bring Celebrity’s elevated approach to Europe’s iconic waterways, beginning with the Danube and Rhine.
Doubling the future fleet underscores both the brand’s confidence in the growing river cruise market and its long-term commitment to offering travelers new, more intimate ways to explore Europe. Europe’s 2028 River Season
With the fleet expansion underway, Celebrity River Cruises also opened bookings for its 2028 European season, a deployment that represents an 80% increase in destinations compared to the brand’s 2027 debut year.
The 2028 season features more than 160 sailings across 50+ destinations in Europe, showcasing the continent’s rich diversity – from storied capitals and historic river towns to culinary regions and cultural crossroads. Each itinerary is designed to offer deep immersion and a more personal way to experience Europe’s landscapes, traditions, and local flavors.
Celebrity River Cruises will officially enter the river market in 2027 with its first two ships: Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker. The fleet will continue to grow in 2028 with the addition of Celebrity Wanderer, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Boundless.
